Matthew Schwartz

Family Wealth Adviser

What path led you to wealth management?

I feel like I was bred for wealth management my whole life. I watched my father, who was in this business, be passionate about helping his family and friends. He would help them accomplish their goals and many would thank him for his help. This made me realize that in this business we can truly make a difference in a family’s life. Knowing that we help our clients sleep better at night makes work enjoyable for me.

Why did you join TDC?

TDC has always been at the forefront of innovation in our industry. I believe the approach we are taking to wealth management is drastically different from other advisers so I knew I wanted to be surrounded by the creative and inventive minds at TDC Investment Advisory.

What most excites you about your work?

I get excited for work when I know I am about to see a unique scenario where we have to brainstorm and collaborate as a team to put together a creative solution. I love working through the puzzle and finding a new, individualized solution.

What has been your most rewarding career experience?

My most rewarding career experience has been getting to help my friends and family ensure that the ones that they love and hold closest to their hearts will always be taken care of.

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

Getting to play baseball at Saint Edward’s University after coaches told me I wasn’t big enough to play at the collegiate level.

Why do families need to be stronger, closer, and wiser?

Being stronger, closer, and wiser lets families drown out all the distracting background noise and allow them the opportunity to just enjoy each other. This is how it always should be!

What do you like to do outside of work? What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend?

Outside of work I love cooking and playing golf. I also enjoy watching Houston sports and walking my dog, Loki.

What are some of your biggest influences?

My parents have always been my biggest influence. They both had their own ways of teaching me how to be responsible, compassionate, and determined to achieve any goals I set my mind to. Without them continuously coaching me and instilling strong ethical values, I wouldn’t be the man I am today.
